A friend of mine told me about a great shop that served gluten free goods. I’ve never had any gluten free items before and decided to just give it a try and see if it tasted the same. The location I visited was a bakery called the Flying Apron located in Fremont, on Fremont Ave. There is also a located in Redmond on Redmond Way.
The Flying Apron has good health in mind. Their items are made with vegan, whole grains, and organic items. They also use other unique ways to sweeten the items like using maple syrup instead of sugar. All ingredients are clearly listed on each item. I had the carrot muffin. I tasted a bit weird because of the no sugar thing, but after a few bites you get used to get and it was pretty delicious.
I would recommend that you give this place a visit for a healthier choice for sweets. The shop also serves soups and salads as well.

P.S My camera is being stubborn, pictures will be up soon. :)

I was reading an article today and thought about your blog. There were a few blog website that are out of seattle and have become pretty successful. Maybe they will be of some use to you and you may get some inspiration as well. Have fun blogging.

I posted on your wall yesterday but I'm not sure if you got it. Anyways, is this place more pricey than the normal goods? I'm glad that they listed ingredients out because some people have allergies. Some bakery does not provide ingredients.
ReplyDeleteLena Asks a good question, do you find that these type of specialty bakeries, for example gluten free bakery, is more expensive than a normal bakery? It's nice to hear that this bakery is vegan friendly because many people are starting to go that direction now, and if they are vegan they are vegetarian. Not everybody but a lot of people. Work on the links because the link should be embedded actually in your text. I believe I gave you a video last week on how to do this? This sounds like a great place to go and I certainly will visit. Thanks..
ReplyDeleteThank you for the interesting post. It is great to know there is such a place for vegetarian, because I am vegetarian. Whenever I want to try some cake or dish, it is really inconvenient to ask them if the goods was made of eggs or meat. I don't like sugar either, so I like the way they sweetened their goods. I will give it a try one day.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, I love alternative food items. I recently learned in my English 102 class (last quarter) that if we didn't subsidize the cost of producing beef it would cost 32 dollars per pound! Since then I have actively sought out healthier and more eco-concious foods. Gluten free while not a necessary thing certainly helps, and I can totally empathize with having to kind of acclimate to the lack of sugar (though, like you said, when you do you realize a whole different type of "sweet" that I think has a lot more substance to it) If you ever get a chance a similar idea for the sweet thing is the avocado bubble tea that you can get at most pho restaurants, ask for light to no sugar. it's an interesting but healthy treat!
