Gluten Free!!!

A friend of mine told me about a great shop that served gluten free goods. I’ve never had any gluten free items before and decided to just give it a try and see if it tasted the same. The location I visited was a bakery called the Flying Apron located in Fremont, on Fremont Ave. There is also a located in Redmond on Redmond Way.
The Flying Apron has good health in mind. Their items are made with vegan, whole grains, and organic items. They also use other unique ways to sweeten the items like using maple syrup instead of sugar. All ingredients are clearly listed on each item. I had the carrot muffin. I tasted a bit weird because of the no sugar thing, but after a few bites you get used to get and it was pretty delicious.
I would recommend that you give this place a visit for a healthier choice for sweets. The shop also serves soups and salads as well.

Why is the red velvet cupcake so popular?

In the past year or so red velvet cupcakes have recently hit a popularity boom. Everywhere stores or bakeries would have them on display, even Starbucks have tiny red velvet cupcakes for $1.50. The question is where they came from and why they suddenly became everyone’s favorite treat.
To start it off red velvet cupcakes or cakes differ from other cupcakes because of its use of buttermilk or vinegar in its batter. The red color either comes from red dye or wait for it, beets. I personally use beets because it gives the cupcake a brighter more prominent red, however using two bottles of red dye is so much easier and faster.
As popularity goes I think it just started as a fad just like when cupcake businesses open. Though red velvet cupcakes are delicious there are much more options and combinations of flavors available that are just as delicious. They are extremely popular now but I’m pretty sure its 15 minutes of fame will pass soon.
Here is an example of a delicious red velvet cupcake that I purchased from Cupcake Royale located in the Junction on California Ave in West Seattle. Visit their website at: http://www.cupcakeroyale.com/

Bakery Nouveau

Bakery Nouveau is a place that I have recently have fallen in love with. It is located in the Junction on California Ave. It has a small and cozy atmosphere similar to those of a small town cafe. You feel warmth as soon as you enter. The chocolate almond croissants and cinnamon scones are to die for. My most recent visit was a couple of days ago to order a strawberry short cake (which was delicious I must add) for my mothers birthday. Here are a few pictures I took while there.

Thats the croissant that I was talking about. So light and fluffy!!

Sovie's Sweet Tooth

Hi all! My name is Sovannadanie Prom or Sovie for short. Since I was young I've always loved to bake and one of my goals in life is to open my own bakery. However, I want to get a degree and finish school first before I even try that. So my blog is basically going to be about my sweet tooth in Seattle. I visit many bakeries and cafes all the time and decided that I should share that with you guys! :)
